What have I been doing....

Well as you can see it's been a long freaking time since I last blogged... What have I been doing you may ask.  Well nothing that fantastic.  2012 was not one of my favorite years. I spent to much time and energy working and was stressed out to say the least.  The unfortunate thing about me and stress is I eat.  A lot.  Cheese, chips, pizza, DESSERT, SUGAR.  All the oh so not good for you foods.  It's like the more stressed out I get the more I talk myself into eating crappy foods and out of eating what makes me feel good.

I feel like a broken record and like well a yo-yo.  Eat crappy for years, vow to lose weight, loose nearly 60 pounds!  Feel great, decide it's ok for me to indulge in a cookie that leads to 12 and everything is out the door.  All the hard work, all the good choices, flushed down the crapper.

So here I am back up to 180 pounds!  Yikes!  Seriously no good. On my small frame I look like a sausage.  But you know what, I don't feel hard on myself.  I really don't.  I made some bad choices or some bad and stressed out choices and it got me here.  It's not a mystery how it happened.  How I let it happen.  But I also know I can lose it because I have before.  That one thought or realization makes me feel lighter and happier about the whole thing.  I know I can take it off.  I know exactly what it is I need to do to get it off of me.

So this is my plan.  I have created a large 100 day calendar and it's smack on my fridge. As of today the 6th of January I am starting my 100 day juicing and raw food diet.  Everyday that I stick to my goal I will get a sticker and at the end of the 100 days I will reward myself.  I am not sure what the reward will be yet but I will give myself one.

I am super excited to be starting these next 100 days.  I will be checking in as I go along probably with juice recipes and the trials and triumphs I have along the way.

And so the journey continues

It's been much much to long since I last wrote to confess or speak of my progress. Where to start, I will start at Christmas. As you may know in November I started juicing and eating raw foods, I felt incredible. I was loosing weight, had energy, my skin looked better, but I was freezing cold (juicing in the winter is hard in this climate). So I started having soups and then Christmas hit. I won't say it was a debaucherous holiday... ok it was! I indulged, the shortbread was out, cocktails were poured, everything was wrapped in puff pastry. I must have eaten 3 pounds of butter that week! Now really this wouldn't have been so bad if I was able to get back on track afterwards. But I didn't and here I find myself back up to 167 pounds, my energy is low, my skin sucks, my face is fuller, my pants are tighter, the new shirts I had bought aren't fitting well anymore... Not good.

So here I am faze 5? You know this is the truth of my weight loss journey, can we say cliche? I have yo-yoed up and down, indulged and deprived, ridiculous! What have a learned.

-I can not have even a little processed sugar.
This is something I know and then I forget. And I think to myself a little won't matter, I can have a bite, just one. I won't start wanting it all the time. Well guess what, lies! I can't just have a little. When I eat a little sugar I want a lot of sugar, all the time! I am fully a sugar addict, I know it sounds funny but I couldn't be more serious and you know what I know others are to. I am not alone in this fight. I will dive into this more in another post, for now I will move on.

So here I am back to the start again, it's time to buckle up and take control. It's time to get back to the basics and eat a wholesome diet, free of processed foods.

On May 1st I am starting up again, I will start with around 2 weeks of juicing and will go from there. I will write more and not be so ashamed to share my story.

Thank you

Still Burning

Well I guess that that little bit of sugar wasn't a big deal as I am still burning at +2 today. Not that I am going to let my guard down around sugars as I know that my body can't handle processed sugars well. Years ago when I was on a whole foods, sugar free diet I went traveling to Morocco. While I was there I ordered one of their famous mint teas, I had a gulp and of course there was sugar lots of sugar. They use those cubes of white sugar (like 3 of them) with crushed mint leaves to make the tea. Now after I drank a bit of this my tongue actually swelled! After a year of no sugar other then fruits my body freaked out and of course all I craved afterwards was that super sugary tea! So I know once I get off of processed sugars I just can't go back to it, it's to intense. And really there are soo many more nutritious and delicious natural sugars like dates, dried fruits generally (although those are not good for your teeth, like candy) and even honey and maple syrup.

Day 30

So today I accidentally had sugar:( I went out to lunch with a friend and ordered the shrimp ceviche and a small garden salad. I made sure there was no oil in it but forgot to say no sugar, so of course there was sugar in the marinade... They sneak that stuff in everywhere! Needless to say I did eat half of it as I didn't want to send it back and make a scene. I feel fine but it's hard to say if it will affect the keytones or not, guess I will just have to wait and see in the am.

I got my order in today from http://www.thelowcarbgrocery.com going to make a pizza tonight with fat free cottage cheese veggies and my new pitas:) I ordered Joseph Flax, Oat Bran and Whole Wheat pitas, some stevia and some walden farms dressing. I can tell you that I am really looking forward to dinner tonight!
